Matt Wheatcroft was playing in the British Par-3 Championship when he found himself with this horrible lie. He didn’t have any real option to advance the ball to the hole other than try to hit it off the fence post. It’s one thing to hit the shot and have it hit the fence post and go towards the hole, but the fact it nearly landed IN the hole and ended up a foot away is absolutely astonishing. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime shot by Wheatcroft and the fact that he didn’t break his club merely adds to the legend.
