With Scott Loeffler off to the NFL to be the Eagles QB coach, the Athletic’s Chris Vannini posted an article highlighting potential candidates for the opening. According to the post, Michigan RB coach Tony Alford, who left Ohio State last offseason to come to Michigan, could be one to watch as he’s interested in getting a head coaching job:
Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford has been trying hard to get a head-coaching job. The Akron native spent 2015-23 at Ohio State and joined the Wolverines a year ago. He knows the area and has produced several NFL running backs, such as Ezekiel Elliott and J.K. Dobbins. Alford previously coached at Notre Dame and Louisville.
No mention of Urban Meyer for the open position. Meyer got his initial HC job as the BGSU coach.
