John Calipari, who recently signed a new 7-year, $52 million contract with Kentucky, is reportedly still hearing from the NBA. This time, as Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports, it’s the Sacramento Kings, who are offering Calipari $10 million plus package:
Calipari has been communicating with owner Vivek Ranadive and other members of the Kings’ ownership group in recent weeks, league sources said. Calipari has listened to scenarios with which the Kings could offer him complete control of the franchise’s fledgling basketball operations to go along with coaching, league sources said.
I’m sure DeMarcus Cousins, Calipari’s former player at Kentucky, would be a happy man if this winds up happening. New coach George Karl and the Kings front office clearly aren’t seeing eye to eye after Karl wanted to trade Cousins before the NBA Draft.
Calipari quickly denied the Yahoo report on Twitter:
For the 100th time, I have the best basketball coaching position in the world. I am not looking for any other coaching position.

Since he bought the team, @Vivek and I have talked on and off about @boogiecousins.
