Malik Newman, the five-star guard who’s set to announce his college decision on Friday, is expected to pick Mississippi State. Although Newman and his father, who played for Mississippi State in the 1990s, are refuting CBS’ report, all signs are pointing to Newman selecting the hometown team over Kentucky.
Newman will be Mississippi State’s highest rated recruit since Monta Ellis. The addition of head coach Ben Howland was likely the sealing factor in locking up Newman, a 6-foot-3 and 175 pound point guard.
