If you’re the last man back, you want to take extra care of the puck. When you’re the goalie and you leave the net to play the puck, you want to take this theory and multiply it by infinity. St. Louis Blues goalie Jake Allen didn’t take extra care of the puck and he misplayed it right onto Travis Moen’s stick, who buried the puck into the back of the net. The misplay gave Dallas an early 2-0 lead in the first period.
I give him credit for trying to dive out and stop the puck, but he needs Marty Brodeur to teach him a few things about playing the puck.
