No real surprise here that USA-Portugal was the highest rated World Cup match to ever air on ESPN, and this all just from overnight ratings and not including Univision. The real surprise and indicator that soccer’s popularity has grown in the United States is the comparison of the 9.1 rating to other sporting events. It’s really too bad the result wasn’t different.
