Tampa Bay Lightning superstar forward Steven Stamkos was back-checking when he lost his footing and went crashing into the net. His right leg was bent awkwardly and when Stamkos tried to get up and skate off, he went down and started to pound his fist on the ice in pain. When he took off his helmet, it looked like he told the trainer “it broke.” Seeing Stamkos grab at the trainer in pain is tough to watch and I hope he has a speedy recovery. His injury is a big blow to the Lightning and for Canada’s Olympic team if he’s out a long time.
Update: Steven Stamkos has been transported to the hospital in Boston for X-Rays. Will provide updates when more info is available.
