Thursday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets was a big one for the Los Angeles Kings. It was Dodger Pride Night so they wore special uniforms in warm ups, Legendary manager Tommy Lasorda dropped a ceremonial puck, and even Wil Wheaton ran the team’s Twitter account (though this is unrelated to Dodger Pride Night).
I have to feel a little bad for Jack Johnson here. Last season he was traded from Los Angeles to Columbus and then his former team went on to win the Stanley Cup. Thursday night, his first game back in LA, he gets a chance to meet Lasorda during the ceremonial puck drop, but Lasorda shook Kings captain Dustin Brown’s hand and walked away, leaving Johnson out to dry. Johnson probably shouldn’t feel too bad though, Brown tried to hand Lasorda the puck and he just walked away. From the looks of it Johnson got a good laugh out of it, but unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, the Kings went on to win the game 2-1.
