The Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) failed to elect anyone to the new Baseball Hall of Fame class for the first time since 1996 and only the eighth time since voting began in 1936. The list of names that were shunned included Barry Bonds, Mike Piazza, Sammy Sosa, Alan Trammel, Jack Morris, Craig Biggio and Roger Clemens. Biggio was the closest to being elected but came up 39 votes short of the 427 needed. Surprise, surprise, but none of the connected steroid players were even close to being elected, including the Home Run King, Barry Bonds (36.2%).
It was disappointing to hear this news but the reactions from the Twittersphere made everything better:

Nobody voted into the Hall of Fame. It is now a vacant lot. You pull up Baseball-Reference and get a 404. You are alone.

That awkward moment when you realize that the bat Clemens threw at Piazza in the 2000 WS is in the HOF, but Clemens & Piazza won't be.

Aaron Sele got one more vote for the Hall of Fame than Pete Rose ever will. There is something so very sad about that.
