Iowa big man Owen Freeman, one of the best players in the Big Ten this past season (had his season cut short due to an injury), entered the transfer portal after Fran McCaffrey was fired. Freeman, who entered the portal with a ‘do not contact’ tag, reportedly has a top group of Michigan, Gonzaga, Arkansas and Creighton. The Wolverines reportedly have quite an offer to the 6-foot-10 big:
Just heard on @KXnO1063:
Owen Freeman has 2 offers on the table:
-Arkansas for 800k
-Michigan for $1.6 millionApparently this has been known for weeks. I hope both schools get slapped with violations the same way Iowa did for the Cade situation.

As a sophomore, Freeman led the team this season with averages of 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in the 2023–24 season.
Either way if this report is true or not, Michigan doesn’t appear to be messing around with NIL for basketball as well.
