While USC hasn’t done anything with current coach Clay Helton, there seems to be a strong likelihood that he could be fired after the year. Penn State’s James Franklin could be a top candidate for the Trojans job, several CFB insiders are reporting:
In addition to Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel of The Athletic, Adam Rittenberg of ESPN and Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports have brought up James Franklin as a potential top candidate for the USC job should it open up. https://t.co/MI4uvkoBXe

Franklin’s response:
James Franklin on the USC rumors. "It's that time of year where all these types of things happen. We're focused on Maryland completely, 100 percent. I don't think it's fair or right to even be talking about that job. We're completely focused on Maryland."
