Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw turned the puck over just outside of his own zone to Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton. Thornton wound up to shoot as Shaw extended his stick to block the shot. The puck deflected off his blade and hit him right in the face near his eye. Shaw laid motionless on the ice as a pool of blood collected on the ice. Shaw didn’t return in the 1st period, but came back out for the 2nd period like any hockey player would. The guys are just a different breed, especially come playoff time.
