The Montreal Canadiens-Ottawa Senators series has gotten chippy early in game one and Senators defenseman Eric Gryba took it to a whole other level during the second period. Canadiens forward Lars Eller got caught looking for a pass by his defenseman, and it was a total suicide pass. Eller was looking back and as he looked forward, Gryba threw a massive shoulder/elbow right to Eller’s face. Eller was down immediately and a pool of blood gathered around his face and eventually he was taken off on a stretcher. Gryba was given a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct; Gryba will also be facing a suspension for the play.
UPDATE: Lars Eller is in some bad shape and Gryba has been suspended for two games.
