Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer hurts himself during on-field celebration

The Detroit Tigers clinched the AL Central title and a spot in the MLB playoffs after beating the Kansas City Royals, 6-3, Monday night.

Unfortunately for Detroit, they victory also came with a loss, as one of their starting pitchers, Max Scherzer, was injured during the celebration.

According to FoxSports Detroit, Scherzer, who had been dealing with pain in his throwing shoulder, twisted his ankle when the team was celebrating on the field.

Tigers skipper Jim Leyland said that injury happened when “somebody jumping on the pile stepped on his ankle.” Oops.

Scherzer was scheduled to start the regular season finale for the Tigers. Leyland is currently unsure on his status going forward. Scherzer is 16-9 on the season with a 3.82 ERA and is the Tigers No.2 starting pitcher.

This injury can only be forgiven if it was Cabrera who stepped on Sherzer’s ankle.
